The Lagos State Government has disclosed that the Green and Purple Line Rails are next in the state mass transit scheme after the completion of the Blue and Red Line rails.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, made this known in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday.

“There are supposed to be six (line rails). And we have done two now. Yes, there is going to be a Green Line and there is going to be a Purple Line. You can check. I think (the Green) is coming from Lekki Expressway up to Lagos Island. Then I think the Purple Line is coming from around the Redemption Camp towards the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to join the Blue Line,” he said.
The commissioner noted he might not be able to give the time the projects would start, but noted the state was looking for investors.
“We don’t know yet, but we are looking for investors for all of them. They’ve been in the Lagos State master plan right from the days of Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu as governor),” he stressed.

According to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, the urban transport implementation agency of the state, the six rail systems that are differentiated by colours are: Green line, Purple line, Yellow line, Orange line, Blue line and Red line.
It is not certain whether the other rail projects will take off under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration which is now in its second term.
